Nqobile Kubheka
Centre Manager
Nqobile joined Midway Crossing in February 2024 and has been working as the Centre Manager since then.
“It has been a wonderful experience, and I continue to learn and grow every day.”
Nqobile grew up in Umlazi and later moved to Amanzimtoti before returning to Umlazi where she currently lives.
She holds a Marketing Diploma from Mangosuthu and a BTech in Marketing from UNISA. Before joining Midway Crossing, she gained experience working in different companies and was also involved in her own business. She later took time to focus on raising her children before returning to the workplace.
On what she enjoys about working at Midway:
“I enjoy working with tenants, coordinating the different aspects of the centre, solving challenges, and learning something new every day.”
On what she’s learned since starting out:
“I have gained valuable knowledge about property management, tenant relations, and centre operations, while developing my leadership and problem-solving skills.”

“I am proud of my growth at Midway Crossing and of being part of creating a centre that is welcoming, well-managed, and connected to its community.”
Wendy Zondi
Assistant Centre Manager
Wendy has been at Midway since its establishment in 2021.
She has a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, majoring in Community Development and Criminology.
Previously, she had worked in other retail positions before becoming Midway Crossing’s Assistant Centre Manager.
On what she enjoys about working at Midway:
“No two days are ever the same! One day I’m dealing with tenants, the next I’m solving a maintenance issue or organising an event. I enjoy the variety, the challenges, and seeing myself grow with every new experience.”
On what she’s learned since starting out:
“Problem solving. I’ve learnt to think on my feet, make quicker decisions, and somehow find a solution to almost anything that comes my way.”
Kholeka Vimba
Cleaning Supervisor
Kholeka was raised in the vibrant community of Inanda township. Her upbringing in Inanda shaped her strong work ethic and deep sense of community, values that she carries into both her personal and professional life.
She has worked at Midway Crossing since 2021.
“It brings me great joy that as we celebrate our 5th Anniversary on 21 September (2026), I am still a proud part of this team”
After completing her matric, she proactively upskilled by completing short courses in customer service and computer literacy. She put those skills to work when she joined Primi Xpress at the Gateway Center as cashier. She was highly dedicated to her role, and within two months, she was promoted to Assistant Manager
On what she enjoys about working at Midway:
“Seeing the immediate beautiful result of our hard work. A shopping center is like a small city and my team is the reason it shines. There is a deep sense of pride in transforming a chaotic busy space into spotless, welcoming environment where families feel safe and comfortable”
On what she’s learned since starting out:
“Working here has truly honed my leadership skills, teaching me how to unite a diverse team, keep morale high during busy holiday rushes, and bring out the absolute best in each of my staff members”
Bhekuyise Gazu
Security Manager
Mr Gazu been working at the center since December 2021.
He started his career as an armed guard, then through hard work, dedication and commitment, he was promoted to Supervisor, and eventually to Manager
On what he enjoys about working at Midway:
“What I enjoy most is helping and making a difference to the people’s lives, working with a supportive team, and learning every day.”
Mr Gazu has learned many skills since starting at Midway Crossing, including improved communication & teamwork, patience, and problem solving.
